The latest temporary roof on the books, this time covering the Chancel to allow for roof repairs. The lead is stripped, the boards are being removed and there has been a meeting to discuss the initial repairs. The contract is due to run for 20 weeks.

Malcolm and Michael at the Church having completed the protection of the organ, lecturn, plaques etc before scaffold is erected – the red sheeting is fire proofing. The 20 week contract involves re-leading and intricate repairing of the Chancel roof.

Doug, Brian and Andy begin refurbishment of a cottage overlooking the beautiful marshes. We have been awarded Phase 1 which includes all works above gutter level – a temporary roof will help continuity with the thatcher booked for May.

Blickling Hall

David, Keith, Doug, Chris and Paul at the completion of the “Brown Staircase” refurbishment. The design of the stairs is very unusual in that the treads are cantilevered. A crack appeared about 70 years ago and amidst fears about structural stabilit a large timber supporting frame was put through the staircase as a temporary measure. After structural repairs the temporary(!) structure has been removed and the staircase has been upgraded and redecorated to its former glory. Having finished this work the team are off to Felbrigg Hall to work in the old kitchens prior to the house being opened to the public.

A Lusher Abroad

Emma is off on her travels to India, Thailand and South America. It was great to have her working in the business for the last few months – like her sister the fourth generation of Lushers. We wish her the very best for a great trip.
